How Reporter Trust works
NearbyPost shows what the evidence supports, not who to believe. Every community report is broken into its claims, and each claim is published only as far as the evidence for it goes.
What the labels mean
- Community Report — a reader reported it; nothing beyond the reporter has confirmed it yet.
- Reported From Nearby — the reporter was near the place when they posted. It says where they were, not that every detail is right.
- Corroborated — several readers nearby, independently, said they saw it too, or an official source was linked.
- Confirmed — a member of the NearbyPost team checked it against an official source.
- Under review — readers disputed it and a person is looking at it.
How a reporter earns trust
Trust is earned only when a report is confirmed by others or by an official source, and lost when a report is corrected, found misleading or false. Posting a lot, adding a photo, using your location, or simply not being disputed earns nothing on its own.
Trust never fades with time away. Rankings do, because they show current contribution.

- Contributor — Reports readers nearby have confirmed.
- Established reporter — A track record of confirmed reports.
- Trusted reporter — Confirmed many times, corrected rarely.
- Verified reporter — The strongest record on NearbyPost.
What trust is not
- It is not proof that a new report is true. A death, an injury count or an accusation is checked the same way whoever posts it.
- It cannot be bought with views, likes or comments.
- A comment repeating a number is not evidence for that number.
- Your exact location is never shown. At most, a report says it was made from nearby.
