Ordering food here
Why separate food and delivery?
NearbyPost takes nothing. No hidden fees.
- No commission on your food, no service fee, no delivery markup, no membership fee.
- You pay the kitchen’s own menu price straight to the kitchen, and your rider’s fare straight to the rider.
- NearbyPost never touches your money - so there is nothing for us to add on.
- Kitchens pay nothing either: listing and orders are free, so there is no fee for them to pass on to you.
Example: a restaurant within 5 km
Assume an independent rider costs RM6.00, and the food app's own delivery fee is about the same (RM6.00). Small-order and platform fees are left out.
- Direct + own rider no commission — you pay the kitchen price direct, plus your own flat-rate rider.
- Bundled delivery the food-app way — a menu price with a ~30% platform fee baked in, plus their delivery on top.
| Food ordered direct | Direct + own rider | Bundled delivery | You save |
|---|---|---|---|
| RM25.00 | RM10.71 | ||
| RM50.00 | RM21.43 | ||
| RM100.00 | RM42.86 |

Why?
Food platforms bundle two different things together.
A food platform
Buying the food + Delivering the food
One price, one company, one cut taken from the kitchen.
NearbyPost
Buy from the restaurant + Arrange your own rider
Two separate prices. Pay each for what they provide.
+ RM0 to NearbyPost
Your food order can become more expensive. The delivery distance stays the same.
A rider travelling 5 km with RM100 of food does not need four times the work of carrying RM25 of food. So when your order gets bigger, separating the food from the delivery can save more.
The bigger the order, the wider the gap
A commission grows with everything you order. A rider is paid for the journey, and the journey does not change.
- The restaurant's own price
- The rider — the same every time
- Bundled, with the commission inside it
RM11 on a RM25.00 order RM21 on a RM50.00 order RM43 on a RM100.00 order
Same restaurant. Same distance. Same rider journey. Only the food order became bigger.
And under 5 km, the ride is a flat fare
A bike's minimum fare covers the first five kilometres, so a kitchen one street away and one four kilometres away cost the same to reach. One rider carries the whole order, however big it is.
| Distance by road | Bike |
|---|---|
| 1 km | RM5.00 |
| 3 km | RM5.00 |
| 5 km | RM5.00 |
| 7 km | RM7.00 |
| 10 km | RM10.00 |
What about self pick-up?
Food platforms may also charge the merchant a commission on self pick-up orders. Around 15% is common — a cost the kitchen carries even though no rider is involved and you collect the food yourself.
Pay the restaurant for the food. Pay the rider for the distance.
Where this does not hold
- A small order, a long way off. Our cost rises with kilometres; theirs rises with the size of your basket. Past about 10 km a small order can cost more this way, because a platform subsidises the ride and earns it back on the menu price. Order from nearby — which is the point of the page.
- A restaurant that prices the same here. We do not set anyone's prices. A kitchen is free to charge the same here as on a platform and keep the difference itself. The saving above assumes it passes the commission on.
Separate the food from the delivery.
For nearby restaurants and larger orders, it can make a big difference.

Commission rates are negotiated between a platform and each restaurant and are not published; the rates used here are around what a small restaurant is usually charged. Rider fares are typical published fares for the Klang Valley and change with traffic, demand and the day. NearbyPost takes no commission, holds no money and books no riders.
