Rescue teams began evacuating victims of a helicopter crash near Long Lellang STOLport in Ulu Baram, Sarawak, on Monday morning. Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad confirmed the operation, which involves police and fire departments, and said hospitals in Miri are prepared to receive the victims. The crash killed a pilot and four MOH personnel who were on routine Flying Doctor Service duties.

The father of Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, the pilot killed in a helicopter crash in Sarawak, said his son had a video call with his mother for over an hour the night before the tragedy. The family is travelling to Miri for DNA testing and to make arrangements to bring his remains home to Senawang for burial. The BO-105 helicopter crashed near the Long Lellang STOLport in Ulu Baram, killing all five people on board.
