Kuching court fines caregiver RM5,000 for injuring autistic girl
A 51-year-old woman was fined RM5,000 by the Sessions Court in Kuching for abusing a five-year-old autistic girl under her care. The offence occurred at a rehabilitation centre in Kuching in May 2025, and the court also ordered her to serve 100 hours of community service and be of good behaviour for three years.

BCCK in Kuching named official venue for national Malaysia Day 2026 celebration
The Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) in Sarawak has been officially named the venue for the national-level Malaysia Day 2026 celebrations on Sept 16. The decision to hold the event indoors was made due to the current haze affecting parts of Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia. The celebration will feature cultural performances, the signing of the Malaysia Proclamation Book, and satellite events across Sarawak, Putrajaya, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
