Sarawak to fund education of crash nurse's daughter Euodia until she becomes a doctor
The Sarawak government will cover the education expenses of Euodia, daughter of the late Flying Doctor Service nurse Debra Moset, until she becomes a doctor. Sarawak agrees in principle to set up Greater Miri Development Agency
The Sarawak government has agreed in principle to establish a Greater Miri Development Agency to coordinate development in Miri's outskirts, including Lambir, Marudi and interior areas. Marina Bridge in Miri to cut travel time to five minutes by 2029
Construction of the RM341.17 million Marina Bridge in Miri is in its early stages after work began in May 2026, with completion targeted for May 2029. The cable-stayed bridge will span about 650 metres and is expected to cut travel between Miri city and Kampung Pulau Melayu from 25 minutes to five. Long Lellang crash victims' remains released from Miri Hospital for burial
The remains of Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham and Dr Ainul Baraah Kamaruddin, two of five victims of the Long Lellang helicopter crash, were released from Miri Hospital mortuary on Sunday morning. After funeral prayers at Jamal Addin Mosque in Taman Jelita, Miri, the bodies were taken to Miri Airport to be flown to Kota Bharu and Kuala Lumpur. Remains of three other victims are also being released, with burials expected in Lambir on Monday.

Yii: RM19m spent on Pujut roads, drainage and lights since 2022
Miri mayor and Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii said about RM9.21 million went to resurfacing or upgrading 75 roads and over RM10.14 million to 97 drainage projects in Pujut between 2022 and 2025. Speaking at a PCDS 2030 programme at SM Pei Min in Miri, he said flooding, traffic congestion, ageing infrastructure and squatter settlements still need long-term solutions.

RM422,500 for senior citizen and PwD programmes in Sarawak
The federal government has allocated RM422,500 for senior citizen and persons with disabilities (PwD) programmes and training in Sarawak. The announcement was made at the launch of the Ritma Kehidupan Harmoni (RHYTHM) Programme and Miri Division PwD Therapy Programme at PIBAKIS Miri Hall. Nationwide, the RHYTHM programme targets 6,500 beneficiaries with a total allocation of RM5 million.

Car loses control on Miri-Bintulu coastal road, 22-year-old driver dies
A 22-year-old local man died after the car he was driving lost control and collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle on Jalan Coastal Miri-Bintulu in Bekenu at about 8pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Miri Hospital paramedics, while the other driver suffered minor injuries. Police are investigating under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
