1. DoE monitors bush, peatland fires in Mukah and Daro amid Sarawak dry spell

   The Department of Environment is closely monitoring bush and peatland fires near Jalan Sibujaya Barat in Mukah and Sungai Nai in Daro, Sarawak, amid a dry spell. While the fire in Mukah is mostly controlled, about 2.5 hectares are still burning in Daro. The DoE is also tracking air quality, with Kuching and Sri Aman recording very unhealthy API readings.

2. Sibu Airport flights unaffected as visibility improves amid haze

   Flight operations at Sibu Airport remained unaffected on Wednesday as visibility improved despite the haze, with visibility at 3,000 metres and runway visual range at 2,000 metres. The airport manager said no flights were affected, a contrast to the previous day when thick fog and haze caused two cancellations, four delays and three diversions. The Air Pollutant Index in Sibu had decreased to 248 as of 4pm.
