iCafe Chinese Muslim Seafood in Kuching receives halal certification
The iCafe Chinese Muslim Seafood restaurant in Kuching, Sarawak, has obtained halal certification after about 20 years in operation and a year of improvements. Its owner, Muhammad Lukas Lim Abdullah, hopes the certification will boost customer confidence, especially among Muslims from Peninsular Malaysia and tourists.

Strong winds damaged several homes and blew off roofs in Kenyalang, Kuching. The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) stepped in to help residents, particularly the elderly, clear debris and damaged belongings, and provided bins for waste disposal.

Week-long Gifted Art Gallery 4.0 to showcase special needs artists at Plaza Merdeka
The Gifted Art Gallery 4.0, a week-long event, will be held at Plaza Merdeka in Kuching from Sept 11 to 20. It will feature artworks and performances by eight artists with special needs, along with creative workshops, to promote inclusivity and help families recognize their children's potential.

Sarawak minister opens Kuching art exhibition, urges growth to preserve city's soul
Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah opened the HeadBox Art and/or Mask Exhibition at Westberly Galleria in Kuching on Sunday. He said economic growth should not come at the expense of Kuching's cultural identity and character, recalling the late Abdul Taib Mahmud's vision of a 'city with a soul'. The exhibition features over 60 works by 39 Sarawak-based artists.

Mambong parish annual sale draws strong support, raises funds for church projects
The St Augustine's Parish Mambong Annual Sale 2026 was held at the Kampung Mambong Community Hall in Kuching on Saturday. The event, officiated by Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, raised funds for the parish's development, including plans for a new vicarage and upgrading the parish office.
