Prosecutor seeks up to 13.5 years' jail for driver in fatal Tampines crash
The prosecution has asked for a jail term of up to 13.5 years for Muhammad Syafie Ismail, who pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death and hurt in a multi-vehicle collision in Tampines. The April 2024 crash killed two people and injured eight others. The court is also considering a lifetime driving ban for the 45-year-old.

Man and woman arrested in Toa Payoh after drugs and weapons found in car
A 31-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were arrested in Toa Payoh on Sept 4 after police found weapons, suspected drugs, and contraband cigarettes in their car. The arrests were made during a patrol at Block 4 Lorong 7 Toa Payoh. The cases have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau, Singapore Customs, and the Health Sciences Authority.

Man jailed 21 months for S$1,000 paid assault that broke victim's ankle in Toa Payoh lift
A 30-year-old Singaporean man, Lu Zhong Cheng, was jailed about 21 months for assaulting a stranger in a Toa Payoh lift for S$1,000. The assault, which occurred on Sep. 4, 2025, left the 51-year-old victim with a fractured ankle. Lu was also sentenced for allowing his bank account to be used for criminal proceeds and for driving offences.

Singapore runner charged with stealing shoes, cones from Kallang Decathlon
Singapore distance runner Ko Wen Qiang, Keane, 26, was charged with stealing a pair of running shoes and a set of training cones from a Decathlon outlet in Kallang. The alleged thefts occurred in July and September 2025. Ko represented Singapore at the 2023 World Athletics Road Running Championships.
