British man in Singapore gets 5-day detention, 100 hours community service for assaulting PHV driver
A 22-year-old British man, Oruche Morgan Fidelis, was sentenced in a Singapore court to a five-day short detention order and 100 hours of community service for using criminal force on a 66-year-old private-hire vehicle driver. The driver suffered a skull fracture in the June 2024 incident and died from natural causes about a year later. The court amended the original charge after finding the cause of the fracture could not be proven beyond reasonable doubt.

Mother sues Singapore preschool over son's slide injury, alleges teachers were on phones
A woman is suing her son's preschool in Singapore for negligence after he was pushed off a 75cm-high indoor slide by another student in July 2024. The trial opened in the State Courts on Monday, with the mother claiming teachers were distracted by their phones and that no safety mats were under the slide. A gag order protects the identities of the family and the preschool.

Audi and lorry drivers in Thomson Road road rage face police investigations
A road rage incident on Thomson Road, Singapore, on Sep. 1 has led to police investigations. Two drivers, aged 35 and 52, are assisting with investigations into alleged offences under the Protection from Harassment Act, with the younger driver also investigated for voluntarily causing hurt. Man jailed 39 months, caned for driving on etomidate while delivering Kpods
A 32-year-old Singaporean man, Chua Beng Kai Jeremy, was sentenced to three years and three months' jail and two strokes of the cane for trafficking and consuming Kpods, and for driving under the influence of etomidate. He was caught twice, the second time while on bail, driving from Jurong to Punggol to make deliveries for his supplier. He was also disqualified from driving for five years.

PHV driver fined S$650 for touting at HarbourFront Centre taxi stand
A private-hire vehicle driver was fined S$650 for loitering and soliciting passengers at the HarbourFront Centre taxi point. Steven Gan Teck Guan was found guilty after a judge ruled he had touted for a S$65 fare in March 2024. He is out on bail pending an appeal.

Man, 59, arrested for alleged loanshark harassment at Choa Chu Kang flat
A 59-year-old man was arrested on Sep. 1 for allegedly harassing a resident by scattering shoes and leaving a bicycle lock at a flat along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 5. Police identified him through camera images. He will be charged in court on Sep. 3 under the Moneylenders Act.

Police in Singapore were called after two teenage girls were seen sitting on the edge of a seventh-floor car park wall in Toa Payoh. Officers persuaded both girls to safety, and they were taken to hospital and detained under the Mental Health Act.

Fire at Bukit Pasoh Road substation causes temporary power outage in Chinatown area
A fire at an electrical substation at 43 Bukit Pasoh Road in Chinatown on Sept 1 caused a temporary electricity disruption to some premises in the area. The Singapore Civil Defence Force extinguished the blaze, and power was fully restored by 5.25pm. No injuries were reported.
