Ex-property consultant jailed 10 years, fined RM228mil for graft
The Court of Appeal in Johor Bahru sentenced former real estate consultant Amir Shariffuddin Abd Raub to 10 years in jail and a fine of nearly RM228 million. The court overturned his earlier acquittal on 33 corruption and four money laundering charges. The bench found that his claim the money was consultancy fees was unsupported by evidence.

British man gets 5-day detention for pushing Grab driver in Clementi
A 23-year-old British national was sentenced to a five-day short detention order and 100 hours of community service for using criminal force on a private-hire driver in Clementi. The incident occurred in June 2024 after the man, who was drunk, pushed the 66-year-old driver, who later died of unrelated causes.

Court orders YTL Construction to pay RM180,000 for Johor surau flooding
The High Court in Johor Bahru has ordered YTL Construction to pay RM180,000 in damages for negligence and private nuisance. The company's temporary culvert works caused repeated flooding at Surau Ar Rahman and adjoining land from November 2020 to April 2022.
