A tropical geotechnical expert has called for regular and more frequent inspections of risky slopes along hilly highways to reduce the risk of landslides. He was commenting on a slope collapse at KM 263.6 of the North-South Expressway southbound from the Menora Tunnel to Ipoh, which blocked the left lane and caused a 15-kilometre traffic jam. All lanes have since reopened.
