Sarawak Malaysia Day events moved indoors as haze persists
Several Malaysia Day programmes in Sarawak are being adjusted to limit outdoor exposure due to persistent haze. The main celebration will proceed as planned at the indoor Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), while other events like the exhibition in Kuching have been relocated to Plaza Merdeka.

Haze: 63 schools in Bintulu and Tatau closed until Sept 11
All 54 primary and nine secondary schools under the Bintulu and Tatau/Sebauh District Education Offices in Sarawak are closed until September 11 due to haze. The decision was made after the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading in Bintulu hit 206, a very unhealthy level. A total of 39,744 students are affected, and home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) will be implemented.

PM Anwar to discuss possible disaster emergency with Sarawak govt over Serian haze
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said further action, including declaring a disaster emergency, will be discussed with the Sarawak government after an Air Pollutant Index reading exceeded 500 in Serian. He has contacted Sarawak Premier Abang Johari to discuss the matter and assured that safety measures would be implemented if an emergency is declared. Air quality in Serian remained hazardous with an API reading of 518, while Kuching recorded 310.
