Shafie urges faster seat increase for Sabah, Sarawak
Parti Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has called for the proposed increase in parliamentary seats for Sabah and Sarawak to be expedited to strengthen their representation in the Dewan Rakyat. He said Sabah currently holds 25 parliamentary seats and Sarawak 31, and wants a more balanced share in line with the one-third principle raised in MA63 discussions. He spoke after officiating the ninth Warisan Semporna Division annual general meeting on Saturday.

Parti Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the Federal Government's immediate increase of Sabah's special grant to RM1.5 billion must translate into tangible benefits for the people. Speaking in Semporna after officiating the party's ninth Semporna Division annual general meeting, he said the amount matters less than whether it reaches the grassroots and addresses basic needs like water and electricity, and that MA63 rights including the 40pc net revenue entitlement must be given serious attention.

Parti Warisan will insist on a clear 'red line' to safeguard Sabah's rights and interests in any political cooperation ahead of the next general election, its president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said. Speaking after officiating the Semporna Warisan division's annual general meeting on Friday, he said the party remains open to working with others but will not let Sabah's entitlements be compromised.
