78-year-old man missing in Selangau durian orchard found safe
A 78-year-old man reported missing after going to a durian orchard near Sungai Duat Bridge in Selangau, Sarawak was found safe today. Kaya Umbie left home around 8am yesterday and did not return, prompting his family to lodge a police report. Fire and Rescue personnel from Selangau who launched a search operation found he had been located by longhouse residents and taken to Selangau Clinic for a health check.

Rundi: Drugs and online gambling threaten rural families
Sarawak's Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, warned that drug abuse and online gambling are seriously affecting families in rural areas. He said pills are being sold to longhouse residents and online gambling is trapping people in debt. He spoke at a cheque presentation ceremony for the Kemena state constituency at the Bintulu Agriculture Department office on Thursday.

Foreign oil palm worker arrested in Mukah with drugs hidden in cigarette box
A 35-year-old foreign oil palm plantation worker was arrested in a raid along Jalan Mukah-Selangau in Mukah after police found drugs hidden in a cigarette box. Police seized 10.83 grams of methamphetamine valued at RM540, and the suspect tested positive for drugs. He is remanded for two days and investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act and Immigration Act.

Stolen Miri motorcycle found in Ulu Penipah; two foreign workers arrested
Police in Mukah arrested two foreign oil palm plantation workers on Sunday night after recovering a motorcycle reported stolen in Miri. The suspects, aged 40 and 27, were also found to have used drugs and lacked valid travel documents. They have been remanded until Sept 10 for investigation.

Motorcyclist killed, five injured in Stapang P-Turn crash
A motorcyclist was killed and five occupants of a Toyota Hilux were injured in a collision at the Stapang P-Turn area on Friday evening. The Selangau Civil Defence Force responded to an emergency call, and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by medical staff from the Sekuau Health Clinic. The victim's body was taken to Sibu Hospital.

Mukah police assist water distribution to dry spell-hit Ulu Sebakong residents
Mukah police, along with several government agencies, distributed 992 cartons of drinking water to residents of six longhouses in Ulu Sebakong affected by an ongoing dry spell. The operation was led by district police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias and proceeded smoothly despite hazy conditions.
