Alam Maritim CEO charged with fraud over vessel charter rates, claims trial
Alam Maritim Resources Bhd group managing director and CEO Datuk Azmi Ahmad was charged in the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur with two counts of fraud over the daily charter rate of a vessel. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of RM300,000 with one surety. The court set Nov 18 for mention of the case.

Couple in Serdang lose RM60,000 to fake e-commerce agent scam
A Chinese national woman and her Malaysian husband in Serdang lost over RM60,000 after falling for a scam offering work as e-commerce platform agents. The victim had to front payments for orders and even borrowed from loan sharks, but was unable to withdraw promised profits. A police report has been filed.

IT officer in Bangsar South loses RM20,000 in SPayLater scam
A 28-year-old IT officer in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur, lost RM20,000 after falling for an SPayLater cash-out offer seen on TikTok. Brickfields district police confirmed the incident on September 1 and the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
