Sultanah Aminah Hospital forms committee to probe harassment claim against specialist
Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru has launched an internal investigation into sexual harassment allegations against a medical specialist in its anaesthesiology department. The Johor Health Department confirmed a special committee was set up after a report was received on Aug 28, and the hospital has vowed not to tolerate any attempts to suppress such reports.

Foreign masseuse dies in fall from fourth floor fleeing MBJB raid
A 36-year-old foreign masseuse died after falling from the fourth floor of a shop house in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, Masai, Johor Bahru, while trying to flee an inspection by the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB). Her body was sent to Hospital Sultan Ismail for a post-mortem, which found the cause of death to be head injuries and broken ribs. Police have classified the case as sudden death.

68-year-old man injured after bus brakes suddenly along Woodlands Avenue 7
A 68-year-old man was injured on Sep. 1 when Bus 858 braked suddenly along Woodlands Avenue 7, throwing him from his seat. He suffered a head injury, a fractured rib, and a displaced cataract, and was hospitalised again on Sep. 3. His family expressed disappointment with bus operator Tower Transit's handling of the incident.

Man gets 2 years' jail, caning for selling Kpods and illicit drugs
A 24-year-old man, Basil Wang Zhuang Zhen, was sentenced on Sept 4 to two years' jail and two strokes of the cane for trafficking Kpods and other drugs. He was caught after ICA officers found a vape in his car at Woodlands Checkpoint, leading to a search of his home where authorities found thousands of tablets and other illicit items. He is the first person convicted for Kpod trafficking under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Malaysian jailed 15 weeks for smuggling 1,050 etomidate-laced pods through Woodlands Checkpoint
A 42-year-old Malaysian man, Ji Saow Hua, was sentenced to 15 weeks' jail on Sept 3 for importing 1,050 etomidate-laced e-cigarette pods worth $73,500. He was caught at the Woodlands Checkpoint on July 4, 2025, after an auxiliary police officer found the pods in his motorcycle's rear carriage box. Ji had previously been fined for a similar offence in 2024.
