Man who stopped voyeur at Sengkang MRT among five honoured for catching offenders
Kwok Yen Ming, 36, was at Sengkang MRT station on July 8 when he noticed a man filming a female commuter on an escalator. He confronted the man and, with the station manager, detained him until police arrived. On Sept 4, Kwok and four others were recognised at the Public Transport Security Command Community Roadshow at Punggol Coast MRT station.

BDS Malaysia claims containers bound for Israel are at Tanjung Pelepas Port
BDS Malaysia claims that some of 71 containers bound for Israel are now at the Tanjung Pelepas Port (PTP) in Johor. Its chairman, Prof Nazari Ismail, lodged a police report and urged the government to seize all containers destined for Israel at Malaysian ports.

NEA fines for ground littering drop to 5,300 in first half of 2026
Singapore's National Environment Agency reported a drop in fines for ground littering and corrective work orders in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period last year. The agency credited targeted enforcement and surveillance, including a pilot with town councils that improved the catch rate for high-rise littering. One hotspot at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 saw a 54 per cent drop in litter count.

Singapore prisons to trial pepper-spraying robot PROTECT in 3-month pilot from October
The Singapore Prison Service will deploy a 510kg robot called PROTECT to patrol prison yards and quell fights during a three-month trial starting in October. The robot, developed with HTX, can spray pepper spray and live-stream incidents to officers. A demonstration was held at Changi Prison Complex on Sept 3.

Two vessels detained, seizure estimated at RM260 million
Two vessels suspected of unauthorized ship-to-ship activities were detained by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) at 1.4 nautical miles northwest of Tanjung Buai, Kota Tinggi. The vessels, a tugboat and a dredger, along with an estimated RM260 million worth of oil cargo, were seized for further investigation.

Two Singaporeans among 38 foreigners repatriated from Johor immigration depot
Two Singaporeans were among 38 detainees repatriated from the Pekan Nenas Immigration depot in Johor. The repatriation, which also involved 36 Indonesians, was carried out through the Stulang Laut ferry terminal and Sultan Iskandar Building. All detainees have been blacklisted from re-entering Malaysia for up to five years.

Private-hire driver fined S$650 for touting at HarbourFront Centre taxi stand
A private-hire driver, Steven Gan Teck Guan, was fined S$650 for loitering at a taxi stand at HarbourFront Centre to solicit passengers without a booking. The case came to light after a passenger complained about being quoted a premium fare on the Grab app. Gan contested the charge but was convicted based on CCTV evidence.

Firefighters patrol, monitor public water activities at beaches
The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department conducted patrols and monitoring of public water activities at Pantai Batu Layar and Pantai Punggai in Kota Tinggi today. The operation, which began at 9am, involved eight personnel and included distributing safety leaflets and giving warnings via loudspeakers, following recent drowning incidents at the beaches.
