KLFF and Luna Lights Wonderland in Kuching reopen as haze eases
The Kuching Lights & Floral Festival (KLFF) and Luna Lights Wonderland reopen to the public in Kuching today. Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) said the reopening follows an improvement in the haze in the city compared with two weeks ago. Visitors are advised to wear face masks, carry enough drinking water and check air quality readings before going.

Schools in Serian and Lubok Antu remain closed until API drops below 200
The Sarawak State Education Department has extended the temporary closure of schools in Serian and Lubok Antu until the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading in both districts falls below 200. Meanwhile, 12 other districts in Sarawak will operate as usual starting next Monday. Face masks will be distributed to affected students and school staff due to the haze.

Cloud seeding only short-term relief for Sarawak haze, says researcher
A researcher at Danau Girang Field Centre says cloud seeding can only give short-term relief from Sarawak's worsening haze and cannot fix the root causes of recurring fires. Serian records API 220, only 'very unhealthy' area in Malaysia
Serian in Sarawak recorded an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 220 as of 5pm, the only area in Malaysia in the 'very unhealthy' category. Fifteen other stations recorded unhealthy readings, including Tebedu (199), Lubok Antu (198) and Lundu (197), attributed to dry weather in southern Asean and hotspots in Kalimantan and Sumatra.

Sarawak seeks frequent cloud seeding as hotter October looms
Sarawak has asked the National Disaster Management Agency to carry out cloud seeding as soon and as often as conditions allow, to replenish water levels at its dams before hotter weather expected in October. Deputy Premier Douglas Uggah Embas said the state had discussed the matter with Nadma after limited success from earlier operations, and that he had not yet received the latest readings for the Batang Ai, Bakun and Murum dams.

Serian API back to very unhealthy level at 202
Serian in Sarawak recorded an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 202 at 11am on Sept 11, again entering the very unhealthy range. It was the highest in Sarawak, while 15 other monitoring stations recorded unhealthy readings.

Sarawak Malaysia Day events moved indoors as haze persists
Several Malaysia Day programmes in Sarawak are being adjusted to limit outdoor exposure due to persistent haze. The main celebration will proceed as planned at the indoor Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), while other events like the exhibition in Kuching have been relocated to Plaza Merdeka.
