Malaysia strengthens eco-friendly drainage management at SWaM 2026 conference
The National Conference on Stormwater Management 2026 (SWaM 2026) is being held over four days at the Sunway Putra Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, focusing on building safer, more resilient cities against climate change. Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad, stressed the importance of consistently implementing existing frameworks like the Urban Stormwater Management Manual (MSMA).

Sebup community's efforts to preserve Dapui River recognised with award
The Sebup community from Long Taa, Dapui in Ulu Tinjar, Baram, Sarawak, has won the Gamuda Inspiration Award for Environment and Wildlife for its efforts to protect the Dapui River and restore native fish populations. The award was presented at a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 18. The community's tagang system, started in 2018, has led to a recovery of native fish species.
