Zaqy: Islamic groups should pool strengths for wider community benefit
At D'Marquee, Downtown East on 12 September, Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Zaqy Mohamad said Islamic organisations such as MUIS, Mendaki, SKML and Sinda must work across communities for the common good. He spoke after the SKML 85th anniversary celebration, attended by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. The event also launched the $250,000 SKML Ascend Education Fund.

Social worker Saleha Rashidi wins Merit Award at SSP 2026
Saleha Rashidi, manager of Rise Above Transitional House at 1 St George's Lane, Singapore, received a Merit Award at the Social Service Professionals Awards 2026 on 11 September. The centre, Singapore's first secular halfway house for former female offenders, has helped more than 130 women and their families since it began operating in 2023.

RLAF collects funds at 70 Singapore mosques for Nepal-Tibet flood victims
The Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation (RLAF) is running a donation drive at 70 mosques in Singapore until 14 September to help victims of floods along the Nepal-Tibet border that struck on 26 August. Acting Minister for Muslim Affairs Zaqy Mohamad urged Singapore's Muslim community to give after joining a collection at Masjid Al-Istighfar on 11 September. RLAF expects to raise more than $200,000 and says the response so far has been encouraging.
