Sarawak Premier: Sea reclamation technology key to expanding Miri Port
Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said engineering technology for sea reclamation will be used to expand Miri Port's capacity. He said a knowledge-based approach covering hydrology and sediment movement allows development in sea-facing areas. He spoke at the opening of the PBB Sarawak Northern Zone Special Convention at Miri Indoor Stadium.

Sarawak agrees in principle to set up Greater Miri Development Agency
The Sarawak government has agreed in principle to establish a Greater Miri Development Agency to coordinate development in Miri's outskirts, including Lambir, Marudi and interior areas. Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg announced this at the PBB Northern Zone Special Convention 2026 held at Miri Indoor Stadium. The proposed agency would follow the model of the Greater Kuching Development Agency.

Marina Bridge in Miri to cut travel time to five minutes by 2029
Construction of the RM341.17 million Marina Bridge in Miri is in its early stages after work began in May 2026, with completion targeted for May 2029. The cable-stayed bridge will span about 650 metres and is expected to cut travel between Miri city and Kampung Pulau Melayu from 25 minutes to five. Deputy Minister Aidel Lariwoo said the project could become a new landmark and tourism draw for Miri.

Yii: RM19m spent on Pujut roads, drainage and lights since 2022
Miri mayor and Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii said about RM9.21 million went to resurfacing or upgrading 75 roads and over RM10.14 million to 97 drainage projects in Pujut between 2022 and 2025. Speaking at a PCDS 2030 programme at SM Pei Min in Miri, he said flooding, traffic congestion, ageing infrastructure and squatter settlements still need long-term solutions.

Lee Kim Shin: Jalan Pulasan park defects must be fixed before retention sum released
Sarawak Transport Minister Lee Kim Shin inspected the Jalan Pulasan recreational park in Senadin, Miri on Thursday, nearly a year after its completion. He said stagnant water, paintwork and facility defects must be rectified before the project's five per cent retention sum is released, and urged the council to cut grass and provide rubbish bins.

BIMP-EAGA meeting in Miri focuses on improving cross-border connectivity
Sarawak's Transport Minister, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, officiated the 4th BIMP-EAGA Trade Facilitation Cluster (TFC) meeting in Miri. He stressed the importance of smoother cross-border connectivity to strengthen trade and tourism among BIMP-EAGA member countries, including through key routes in Sarawak such as Miri, Limbang, and Lawas.

MoU signed for road and digital infrastructure at Kenyalang Smart City in Miri
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in Miri between Imasa Dinasti Sdn Bhd and SACOFA Sdn Bhd to enhance road and digital infrastructure for the Kenyalang Smart City project. The government has identified a 5.2-kilometer alignment for roads, while SACOFA's digital infrastructure is estimated to cover about 3.5 kilometers. Existing roads will be upgraded to four lanes, with work targeted for completion in under two years.

Miri lorry terminal earthworks 70% complete, full project due by March
The Miri Lorry Terminal project in Sarawak has reached 70% completion of its earth filling works. Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said the remaining works are expected to be completed by the end of March next year. The terminal is intended to be Sarawak's first dedicated lorry terminal to serve the freight and logistics industry in Miri and northern Sarawak.
