Singapore Malay Book Festival returns for eighth edition at Geylang Serai
The Singapore Malay Book Festival (PBMS) 2026 is back for its eighth edition, running from 3 to 6 September around Wisma Geylang Serai (WGS). The launch on 4 September was officiated by Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Changi GRC, Mr Sharael Taha, and features booths from local publishers as well as groups from Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei.

Pianist Niu Niu to perform eight concerto movements at VIVA Foundation charity concert
Pianist Niu Niu will perform at the VIVA Foundation's charity concert on Oct. 27 at the Esplanade Concert Hall in Singapore. The concert, titled 'VIVA Concerti: Where the Twain Shall Meet', will raise funds for childhood cancer care. Niu Niu will also debut as a violinist during the event.

Mandai Wildlife Group announced panda-themed birthday celebrations for Kai Kai and Jia Jia at River Wonders in Singapore. The events, running until Sept 14, include ice cake feedings and an immersive exhibition, as the pandas are set to return to China in 2027.

SIA to preview new first, business class seats at Marina Bay Sands on Nov 7
Singapore Airlines will unveil its revamped first- and business-class seats to selected frequent flyers at an exclusive event at Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre on Nov 7. The new seats are part of a $1.1 billion cabin upgrade for its Airbus A350-900 fleet, now slated for completion in the first quarter of 2027 after delays.

Singapore animated film 'The Violinist' wins top prize at Annecy festival
The Singaporean animated feature film 'The Violinist', co-directed by Ervin Han and Raul Garcia, won the Cristal for a Feature Film at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The film, set in 1930s Singapore and Malaya, was discussed by its creators at a media conference at Victoria Concert Hall on Tuesday. The project began as a 2015 short film and took over a decade to develop into a full feature.
