Pacific Partnership 2026 opens in Kota Kinabalu with cultural performances
The Pacific Partnership 2026 mission was officially opened at Dewan Mengkabong, Intan Sabah Campus, near Kota Kinabalu, with musical performances by the Pacific Partnership Band and the Malaysian Armed Forces Band. The multilateral, humanitarian-focused mission involving Malaysia and the US will run from Sept 2 to 15, featuring infrastructure repairs, health activities, and disaster management exercises.

Deputy minister: Military assets, surveillance to be strengthened in northern Sabah
The Defence Ministry is strengthening military assets and surveillance in northern Sabah, partly in response to developments on Balabac Island in the Philippines. Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari said plans include new naval, air and land assets, with some already deployed.
