Four Indonesian men charged in Manjung over smuggling of 104 migrants
Four Indonesian men were charged at the Sessions Court in Manjung, Perak, over two separate migrant smuggling cases last month. Three are accused of smuggling 64 Indonesian migrants off Pulau Talang, while another is accused of smuggling 40 migrants, including two Vietnamese nationals, near Pantai Hutan Kuari Sungai Batu. Elderly man in Segari left 100 money envelopes for his funeral rites
A 93-year-old man in Segari, Manjung, Perak died on 5 September of old age. Before his death he had prepared more than 100 envelopes of money to be given to those who handled his funeral. The family later found the envelopes and used the money for tahlil prayers and donations to a mosque in his name.

Two Sarawak school teams head to Asia-Pacific after third place at MRCC 2026
Two Sarawak student teams won third place at the Malaysia Rocket CanSat Competition (MRCC) 2026 held at FELCRA Seberang, Perak, from 8 to 10 September. SMK Padungan took third in the 1KM Rocket & CanSat category while Sekolah Seni Malaysia Sarawak took third in the 1KM Rocket category. Both teams will represent Sarawak at the APRSAF-32 CanSat International Competition in Thailand from 27 to 30 October 2026.

Two men held over electric cable theft in Ayer Tawar
Police arrested two local men suspected of stealing electric cables around Kampung Sungai Ramai near Ayer Tawar yesterday. Seized items included 102 black cables of various sizes and burnt cable pieces.
