Kabang Water Intake upgrade 94 pct done, 21-day push to finish
The Kabang Water Intake upgrading project in Papar, Sabah has reached 94 per cent physical completion, with a 21-day acceleration plan to finish critical works. The upgrade will raise capacity from nine million to 30 million litres a day, serving as an alternative raw water source for the Limbahau Water Treatment Plant and the Emergency Water Supply Scheme. Officials including Papar MP Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Joachim Gunsalam inspected the site on Monday.

Sabah to standardise Road Safety Audit for road projects
Sabah is moving to strengthen and standardise its Road Safety Audit process so hazards are identified before road projects are completed and opened. The initiative was highlighted by Public Works Department Senior Traffic Engineer Rafael Arthur Mojolou at the Borneo Empowerment in Standards and Transformation 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu.

Armizan: Sabah-Federal cooperation vital to fix infrastructure in Papar
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said stronger cooperation between the Sabah and Federal governments is needed to address infrastructure problems, especially road maintenance and upgrading. Speaking at a Jalur Gemilang Merdeka Tour event in Kampung Sekayan, Papar, he noted that several roads in Papar built 10 to 20 years ago now require repairs, and that rising costs and unpredictable weather including floods are worsening the situation.

5,000 acres in Beaufort proposed as paddy granary
A 5,000-acre area stretching from Kampung Indomadi to Kampung Sungai Padas in Beaufort, Sabah has been proposed for gazettement as a paddy granary. Sabah Assistant Agriculture Minister Datuk Ruslan Muharam said the area could be developed with modern farming methods to raise rice output and strengthen Sabah's food security. He also inspected a 500-acre site in Kampung Indomadi proposed as a sago palm area.

Sabah gets RM582.29 million of RM1.52 billion IKR and small-project allocation
A total of RM1.52 billion has been allocated for 8,069 small-scale projects and People's Facility Initiatives nationwide since 2023, with Sabah receiving the largest share at RM582.29 million for 2,301 projects. Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said this year Sabah received RM113.3 million for 481 projects, and after visiting a bridge upgrade in Kampung Kalansanan he said the ministry may prioritise small concrete bridges in water-based settlements next year.

Anwar chairs MA63 council in Kota Kinabalu, special grants and Borneonisation on agenda
The MA63 Implementation Action Council met in Kota Kinabalu on Sept 11, chaired by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, to discuss special grants for Sabah and Sarawak, Borneonisation of the federal civil service and increased parliamentary representation. Anwar said MA63 is a national commitment that must be implemented, and leaders will meet again in Kuching next week for Malaysia Day.

Anwar arrives at SICC Kota Kinabalu to chair MTPMA63 meeting
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu at 8.16am to chair the 2026 Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63) meeting. He arrived with Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, and Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was also present. The meeting discusses the implementation of MA63 matters concerning Sabah and Sarawak.

Sabah JSPT: road condition a factor in some fatal crashes
At a forum at the Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu, a Sabah traffic police investigation officer said road users are not always solely to blame for accidents, citing road condition, lighting and signage as contributing factors. He said Sabah recorded 21,249 road accidents in 2025 with 348 deaths, and 14,566 accidents so far in 2026 with 232 deaths, and that findings are shared with JKR to identify problem locations.
