Julita: Women's empowerment must reach rural and vulnerable groups
Sabah's Women, Health and People's Wellbeing Minister Datuk Julita Majungki called for broader women's empowerment efforts at the Persona Wanita Carnival in Sandakan on Saturday. She said community development must include vulnerable groups and that assistance should be delivered more coordinated through welfare, health and local agencies.

Fruiting season, not haze, keeps Sepilok orang utan from feeding platform
A check at the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre in Sandakan found operations normal despite the haze, with fewer orang utan appearing at the feeding platform. A ranger said the main reason is the fruiting season inside the forest, which provides abundant food, not the hazy weather. Visitors still saw a mother orang utan with her baby near the walkway.
