Sarawak takes 5,000 health worker shortfall to JPA
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said 18 per cent of health sector posts in the state, over 5,000 positions, remain unfilled. The matter has been raised with the Public Service Department and in MA63 talks, including a proposal for a special task force on local recruitment. He said Sarawak will keep pursuing health autonomy even though it requires amending 41 laws.

Free health screenings for 250 Bau residents under MOHE Prihatin Madani
A total of 250 residents in Bau received free healthcare services on Saturday (Sept 12) through the Ministry of Higher Education's Prihatin Madani 2026 outreach programme. Organised with the Consortium of Malaysian Public University Teaching Hospitals, it involved 130 specialists and staff from 10 teaching hospitals, offering screenings, consultations, medication and home visits to bedridden patients. Deputy Public Health Minister Datuk Michael Tiang officiated the event, which also distributed 159 food baskets, hygiene kits and healthcare aids.
