22nd Japanese Film Festival screens 14 films across five cities
The 22nd Japanese Film Festival began on 8 September in the Klang Valley before travelling to George Town, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu until 18 October. Fourteen Japanese films are being shown, including a retrospective of director Yamada Yoji and a Girl Power programme, with special Kokuho screenings at GSC Mid Valley and GSC MyTOWN.

MOTAC to seek allocations for state tourism upgrades, says Tiong

The six-day festival runs until Wednesday and features traditional performances, cultural exhibitions and heritage displays from across the country.

Harmony Beyond Borders concert at Titiwangsa draws China, India, Uzbekistan musicians
The Harmony Beyond Borders - A Celebration of Cultural Friendship concert was held at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur last night as part of the Malaysia Cultural Festival 2026. Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Chiew Choon Man said cultural diplomacy strengthens people-to-people ties across borders through music, dance and heritage. The concert, coordinated by the Malaysian Traditional Orchestra, featured musicians from China, India and Uzbekistan alongside local artists.

An immersive contemporary theatre production inspired by the traditional Malay healing ritual Main Teri will be staged at BlackBox ASWARA in Kuala Lumpur on 17 and 18 September 2026. The performance blends ritual, music, movement and light to explore themes of memory, identity and ancestral presence.
