Penang City Council catches 3,368 pest birds last month
The Penang Island City Council (MBPP) caught 3,368 pest birds, including 1,996 crows and 1,372 pigeons, at several locations in George Town last month. The council also destroyed 114 crow nests as part of its ongoing efforts to control the bird population and maintain urban cleanliness.

A RM4.25 million flood mitigation project at Parit Monsun in Kampung Pokok Asam, Penang, is in its final stage and expected to be completed in October. Penang mandates Kampung Selamat pig farms to send waste to biogas plant
The Penang government has made it mandatory for all pig farms in Kampung Selamat, Tasek Gelugor to send their waste to a biogas plant in Ampang Jajar since May to address pollution. Weekly monitoring by the Veterinary Services Department (JPV) found no farms discharging waste directly into drains or rivers. The state also plans to clean up sediment in the drains after clearing old waste.
