3,736 ageing trees in Penang show early health warnings
A total of 3,736 of Penang's 12,500 ageing trees show early signs of health problems needing monitoring. State exco Jason H'ng said 167 high-risk trees are in George Town and 77 have already been felled by MBPP in phases from August through 2027.

Pulau Burung landfill in Nibong Tebal catches fire again
A fire broke out at the Pulau Burung solid waste landfill in Nibong Tebal, Penang, late last night. The blaze covered an area of about 36 metres by 27 metres and was brought under control at 12.30am before being fully extinguished around 5am. Seventeen firefighters from four stations were involved, and no casualties were reported.
