Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Penang reopens after RM6 million restoration
The 125-year-old Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Penang on Jalan Gurdwara in George Town reopened yesterday after a RM6 million restoration that began in 2004. The Category One heritage building, the oldest and largest Sikh temple in Southeast Asia, was restored with traditional materials and artisans from India, with a RM1 million donation from Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah.

Malaysian jazz vocalist Janet Lee and pianist Tay Cher Siang will perform a concert at Hikayat in Georgetown on 20th September. The duo will present an afternoon of jazz standards with a local twist, blending Mandarin pop, American songbook classics and Malayan swing.

Where Penang's wartime stories still linger
The Penang War Museum in Batu Maung, Penang, offers visitors an authentic experience of a British military fort from World War II, preserved in its original state. The site, which fell to Japanese forces in 1941 and later served as a prisoner-of-war camp, features tunnels, barracks, and gun positions, along with personal accounts from former POWs.
