Stakan assemblyman wants every JKKK to keep fire extinguishers
Stakan assemblyman Datuk Hamzah Brahim has proposed that every Village Development and Security Committee in his constituency be required to keep fire extinguishers at designated spots. Speaking after the Bomba community programme at Dewan Perpaduan Stakan in Taman Samarindah, he said JKKK annual allocations could be diverted from less urgent activities to buy the equipment. He noted there are about 18 JKKKs in the densely populated constituency.

Man, 31, held over mother's murder in Tambunan
A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his 56-year-old mother at a rented house in Kampung Katagayan, Tambunan, Sabah, on Friday. Police said the victim died at the scene from injuries believed to have been caused by a sharp weapon, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Man in his early 30s arrested, tests positive for drugs in Engkilili, Lubok Antu
A man in his early 30s was arrested by the Lubok Antu District Narcotics Crime Investigation Department in the Engkilili area on the afternoon before yesterday. The suspect, who has a prior criminal record for drug offenses, tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
