Sarawak village heads told to watch over KKDW solar LED lights

Two children weep as mother Debra Moset is buried after Ulu Baram helicopter crash
Debra Moset, 40, was buried at St Patrick Christian Cemetery in Kampung Semadang, Padawan, today. Her children Euodia Then Suling, 15, and Eugene Then Kuling, 12, wept as they followed the funeral. Debra was among five killed when a Health Ministry air doctor helicopter crashed near Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, last Tuesday.

FDS nurse killed in helicopter crash buried at Kampung Semadang
The body of air ambulance (FDS) nurse Debra Moset was buried at St Patrick Cemetery in Kampung Semadang, Padawan, at about 12.25pm today. She was among five victims of an FDS helicopter that crashed and caught fire near the end of the STOLport runway in Long Lellang, Baram, on 8 September. Her husband, John Then Hua Ken, said the burial fulfilled her last wish to live in their new home there.

Police seize 99 motorcycles, arrest 17-year-old at Jalan Tun Salahuddin
Kuching police seized 99 motorcycles and issued 222 summonses during Op Samseng Jalanan at Jalan Tun Salahuddin over the weekend. A 17-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly using a fake licence plate. The operation, involving over 30 officers, ran from 8.30pm Saturday to 6am Sunday.

59 Indonesians detained in Ops Sapu raids around Kuching
Malaysian Immigration in Sarawak detained 59 Indonesian nationals in Ops Sapu at three locations around Kuching city from 12 September to yesterday. A total of 92 individuals were screened, with those held suspected of various immigration offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63. All detainees were taken for further action.

Road repair at Kampung Grait-Git collapse to start this week
Physical rehabilitation works on the collapsed roadside linking Kampung Grait and Kampung Git in Puncak Borneo are expected to begin this week or next, according to Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin. The project follows nearly a year of technical investigations after the September 2025 collapse, with JKR Kuching overseeing the repairs.

Police examine flight path and refuelling stops in Long Lellang helicopter crash
Sarawak police are widening their investigation into the Air Doctor Service helicopter crash at Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, looking at the flight path and where the aircraft refuelled. Nineteen witnesses have been recorded so far and no indication of anything other than an accident has emerged. The technical probe is with the Air Accident Investigation Bureau.

Debra Moset's family in Kampung Semadang mourns loss after Long Lellang helicopter crash
The family of the late Debra Moset, who died in a helicopter crash involving the Flying Doctor Service in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram last Tuesday, is grieving at their home in Kampung Semadang, Padawan. Her mother, Renog Rasas, said Debra had asked her to help clean a new house where the family planned to celebrate Christmas together. Debra's remains arrived home today and she will be buried tomorrow.

Nurse's remains return home; daughter vows to become a doctor
The remains of nurse Debra Moset arrived at her family home in Kampung Semadang, Padawan on Sept 13. Her 15-year-old daughter Euodia Then Suling said she now wants to be a doctor after seeing her mother help others. Her 12-year-old brother Eugene Then Kuling recalled sending their mother to the airport on Sept 3 before she left for Miri.

Four areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 6pm today, with Serian highest in the country at 174. Sri Aman recorded 164, followed by Kuching at 154 and Samarahan at 152, while Johan Setia in Selangor was the only other area nationwide with unhealthy air quality at 134.
