78-year-old man missing in Selangau durian orchard found safe
A 78-year-old man reported missing after going to a durian orchard near Sungai Duat Bridge in Selangau, Sarawak was found safe today. Kaya Umbie left home around 8am yesterday and did not return, prompting his family to lodge a police report. Fire and Rescue personnel from Selangau who launched a search operation found he had been located by longhouse residents and taken to Selangau Clinic for a health check.

580kg crocodile caught in Batang Igan after disturbing fishing nets
A 580kg crocodile measuring 4.32 metres was captured in the Sebedil area of Batang Igan, Sarawak, early Thursday morning. Rundi: Drugs and online gambling threaten rural families
Sarawak's Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, warned that drug abuse and online gambling are seriously affecting families in rural areas. He said pills are being sold to longhouse residents and online gambling is trapping people in debt. He spoke at a cheque presentation ceremony for the Kemena state constituency at the Bintulu Agriculture Department office on Thursday.

Man charged in Sibu with murder of five-year-old, faces drug count
A 49-year-old man was charged at the Magistrates' Court in Sibu on Thursday with murdering a five-year-old boy at a house in Rantau Panjang Jaya on Aug 28. He also faces a separate drug charge for self-administering amphetamine and methamphetamine at Sibu Central Police Station. The case was fixed for Oct 22 pending forensic and psychiatric reports and the Public Prosecutor's consent.
