Woman who set fire to Sembawang HDB doorway after breakup jailed five to six months
A 46-year-old woman set fire to the doorway of a 10th-floor HDB unit in Sembawang on June 30 after hallucinating that she was trapped following a breakup with her boyfriend. The fire damaged her ex-boyfriend's unit and a neighbour's windows, forced about 30 residents to evacuate, and caused over $10,000 in repairs. She pleaded guilty to intentional arson and was sentenced to five to six months' imprisonment.

Police: bomb threat at Mid Valley Southkey in Johor Bahru was a hoax
Johor police have confirmed that a bomb threat emailed against a business premises at The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey in Johor Bahru was false. Bomb disposal units swept the interior and exterior, examined several suspicious objects and found no explosive material, declaring the area safe. Police also recalled a similar hoax email in July about Centrepoint South Tower at Mid Valley City in Kuala Lumpur.

Mujahid ready to assist MACC probe into Tabung Haji RCI findings
Mujahid Yusof Rawa said he is ready to assist the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's investigation into the Tabung Haji RCI findings, but has yet to receive any official notice. 4,646 domestic violence cases recorded January-July, Johor logs 823
A total of 4,646 domestic violence cases were recorded nationwide from January to July this year, with Johor logging 823 cases against 518 in the same period of 2025. Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Lim Hui Ying said prevention and access to help must be strengthened, citing the PRISMAnita referral service and the 24-hour Talian Kasih hotline 15999. She spoke at the launch of the Aku Wanita @ Domestic Violence well-being advocacy programme and the 2026 Johor PRISMAnita Open Day in Seri Alam.

Fitness influencer charged with RM31,900 criminal breach of trust, RM4,000 bail

Johor Bahru court orders developer to pay RM10.57mil to 84 Princess Cove buyers
The Johor Bahru High Court has ordered R&F Development Sdn Bhd to pay about RM10.57 million in compensation to 84 owners of Princess Cove condominium units over late delivery of their homes. Judge Wong Mee Ling ruled that amendments to the sale and purchase agreements made by the developer without buyers' consent were invalid, and dismissed claims by 39 other plaintiffs who signed their agreements after the building plans were amended.
