Pentarama Merdeka@HoHo draws over 4,000 visitors at three Kuala Lumpur spots
The Pentarama Merdeka@HoHo programme held at Dataran Merdeka, Sungei Wang Plaza and Pavilion Bukit Bintang drew more than 4,000 local and foreign visitors. Information Department director-general Erwin Khairul Ahmad said the programme aimed to spread messages of patriotism and unity for National Day and Malaysia Day 2026.

UKM to hold Malaysia Madani Poetry Declamation on Sept 16
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia's Cultural Centre will hold the Malaysia Madani Poetry Declamation Programme 2026 on 16 September at Panggung Seni UKM in Bangi, in conjunction with Malaysia Day. The event features National Laureate Datuk Rahman Shaari, Prof. Emeritus Datuk Seri Dr. Awang Sariyan and artist Alina Hasan, and aims to instil patriotism and sustain the art of poetry declamation.

Comedian Abon seeks JKM aid after heart condition cuts his income
Malaysian comedian Abon, whose real name is Sharizan Ahmad, has applied for welfare assistance from the Social Welfare Department after losing his income since June due to a heart condition. He had stents fitted in two heart vessels and was told to rest for at least five months, spending thousands on treatment. He was met at his home in Hulu Langat during a FINAS Ziarah Seni Madani programme.

DJ Axwell to perform at Sepang Circuit during F1 race weekend in Malaysia
Grammy-nominated DJ Axwell will perform at the Sepang International Circuit on Oct 3 as part of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia 2026. The concert is part of a race-weekend line-up that also includes Martin Garrix on Oct 4. Race ticket holders can purchase concert upgrades, with prices starting at US50 for the Axwell show.
