Kuching man arrested with 569g cannabis faces drug trafficking charge
A 30-year-old man in Kuching was arrested on Monday after police found 569g of suspected cannabis on him. He faces a possible drug trafficking charge under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment. The suspect is being remanded for five days to assist investigations.

Eight sentenced to 18 months for Kuching love scam syndicate
Eight people, including five Indonesians and three Malaysians, were sentenced to 18 months in jail in Kuching on Sept 8 for their roles in an online love scam syndicate. They were arrested in a raid on a house near Jalan Song on Sept 1, where police seized laptops and phones. Five of the Indonesians also received additional sentences for immigration offences.

Kuching court fines caregiver RM5,000 for injuring autistic girl
A 51-year-old woman was fined RM5,000 by the Sessions Court in Kuching for abusing a five-year-old autistic girl under her care. The offence occurred at a rehabilitation centre in Kuching in May 2025, and the court also ordered her to serve 100 hours of community service and be of good behaviour for three years.

Four arrested in Bau anti-drug operation, syabu and meth found
Four men aged 18 to 30 were arrested in Bau, Sarawak, during a police anti-drug operation. Three were found with suspected syabu, and all four tested positive for methamphetamine. They are being held at the Bau police lock-up for further investigation.

Man arrested in Kuching for running unlicensed entertainment centre
Police in Kuching arrested a 53-year-old man for allegedly operating an entertainment centre without a valid licence. The arrest took place at the premises on Jalan Lapangan Terbang on Friday night, and music equipment was seized. The case is being investigated under the Entertainment Ordinance 2000.

Woman hurt as 4WD and lorry collide on Serian-Kuching road
A 44-year-old woman was injured when the 4WD she was in collided with a lorry at Mile 18, Jalan Serian-Kuching on Friday morning. Firefighters from the Siburan station used hydraulic tools to free her before she was taken to hospital. The lorry driver was unhurt, and traffic was briefly slowed.

Elderly man in Kuching loses RM161,400 to fake tender scam
A 62-year-old man in Kuching lost RM161,400 after falling for a fake tender offer to supply goods to the JPSPN Sri Aman branch. He made four money transfers to two different bank accounts between 11 and 19 August before realizing he was scammed. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
