1. Man charged in Sibu with murder of five-year-old, faces drug count

   A 49-year-old man was charged at the Magistrates' Court in Sibu on Thursday with murdering a five-year-old boy at a house in Rantau Panjang Jaya on Aug 28. He also faces a separate drug charge for self-administering amphetamine and methamphetamine at Sibu Central Police Station. The case was fixed for Oct 22 pending forensic and psychiatric reports and the Public Prosecutor's consent.

2. 78-year-old woman missing after going to farm in Durin

   A 78-year-old woman, Monica Delima Ubong, was reported missing after failing to return to her longhouse at Rumah Philip Kayak, Durin, Sibu. A search and rescue operation by the Sibu Jaya Fire and Rescue Station and police is under way after initial searches around the longhouse and farm failed to find her.

3. Sibu man fined RM2,000 for defaming another on Facebook

   A 33-year-old man was fined RM2,000 by the Sibu Magistrates' Court after pleading guilty to defaming a man on social media. The accused, Azrie Leggan, published a post falsely implicating the victim in indecent remarks with a child. He was arrested in Marudi following an investigation by the MCMC and police.
