Ipoh seminar hears survivors recall life under Japanese Occupation
Four survivors of the Japanese Occupation of Malaya spoke at a seminar at the Peace Gallery in Ipoh on Aug 15, held to mark the end of World War 2 and to promote peace and anti-fascism. The event also marked the opening of the gallery's Chinese section, with China's Vice-Consul General in Penang, Ding Qiao, as guest of honour. Survivors including 93-year-old Chong Su Ha described hunger, fear and violence they witnessed as children.

Yasin Sulaiman freed, advises against prison
Singer Yasin Sulaiman, 50, is enjoying freedom after being released from detention at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta. He described his four-and-a-half-year ordeal in Sungai Buloh Prison, Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta and Kajang Prison as the hardest phase of his life, and advised people not to end up in prison.
