Sekolah Kebangsaan Beluru Central in Sarawak has been redeveloped at a cost of RM20 million, giving rural pupils more comfortable facilities. The project, completed in May 2024, includes an administration block, academic block, hostels and a dining hall.

Sagah inspects delayed RM9.89m SK Kampung Selanyau project
The RM9.89 million full replacement project for Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Selanyau in Subis, categorised as a sick project, is being given serious attention. Sarawak Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn made a working visit to the school recently and stressed that all parties must fulfil their roles and complete the works within the stipulated timeframe. The project, handed over in May 2021 and originally due in July 2022, covers classrooms, an administration building, laboratories and teachers' quarters.

The Malaysia Red Crescent (MRC) Miri District held a charity visit in Sungai Seruas, Bakong on Saturday 12 September, delivering food baskets and health consultations to two families. Volunteers from MRC, Miri City Council, PKB Miri and Klinik Kesihatan Bandaraya Miri took part.

Car loses control on Miri-Bintulu coastal road, 22-year-old driver dies
A 22-year-old local man died after the car he was driving lost control and collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle on Jalan Coastal Miri-Bintulu in Bekenu at about 8pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Miri Hospital paramedics, while the other driver suffered minor injuries. Police are investigating under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Sarawak welfare dept probes family sleeping rough in Miri, Batu Niah
The Sarawak Welfare Department is investigating reports of a family, including a young child, sleeping rough in Miri and Batu Niah. Deputy Minister Datuk Rosey Yunus said the family in Batu Niah is believed to be the same one involved in an earlier incident in Miri, and the department is also checking a similar case in Kuching.

Sarawak haze eases as Serian API drops from hazardous level
Air quality in Sarawak is improving, with no areas recording hazardous API readings as of 1.45pm. Serian, where an emergency was declared yesterday, saw its reading drop to 287, still in the 'very unhealthy' range. Deputy Premier Douglas Uggah said workplaces in Serian may operate with health precautions while the committee monitors the situation.
