Sabah groups urged to use AI, social media to preserve indigenous languages
At a ceremony in Kampung Tagaroh, Kota Marudu, Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick advised ethnic associations to use AI and social media to preserve indigenous languages and cultures. The United Sabah Tindal Organisation is working on a trilingual dictionary and documenting customs to prevent the Dusun Tindal language from disappearing.

Kota Marudu named Sabah's fruit planting hub with RM450,000 state grant
The Sabah government has designated Kota Marudu as a one-stop centre for fruit planting materials to serve farmers across the northern part of the state. State Minister Datuk Jamawi Jaafar announced an allocation of RM450,000 to upgrade the existing facility. He made the announcement while launching the Kitchen Garden Roadshow Programme in Kota Marudu, which is the eighth parliamentary constituency to host the initiative.

Sabah Islamic skills college to open pathways for pondok, tahfiz graduates
A new college, Kolej Kemahiran Islam Sabah (KKIS), is being established in Kampung Marasimsim, Kota Marudu, to offer TVET pathways to graduates of pondok and tahfiz schools. The college, a collaboration between Pertubuhan Islam Seluruh Sabah (Usia) and Institut Islam Darul Ridzuan (IKDAR), will be officially launched by the Chief Minister on Sept 22. Preparations include a training programme for teachers focusing on AI and Islamic education management.

Teen motorcyclist dies after crashing into road barrier in Beaufort
A teenage boy died on Sunday night after his motorcycle crashed into a road barrier along Jalan Kampung Betanduk towards Kota Klias in Beaufort, Sabah. Police received a report at 8.14pm and confirmed the victim died at the scene. In separate incidents, police detained a man for drug possession in Kampung Nukahan and a woman for illegal gambling in Papar.

Deputy minister: Military assets, surveillance to be strengthened in northern Sabah
The Defence Ministry is strengthening military assets and surveillance in northern Sabah, partly in response to developments on Balabac Island in the Philippines. Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari said plans include new naval, air and land assets, with some already deployed.

Kudat school administrative building razed in pre-dawn fire
The administrative block of SK Panudahan in Kudat was destroyed in an early morning fire. Firefighters responded to the 2:21am call and brought the blaze under control by 4:03am. No injuries were reported.

Sabah nabs RM6.14 million in drugs in three August ops
Sabah police seized over 100kg of drugs worth RM6.14 million in three separate operations in Kudat, Papar and Penampang during August. The largest seizure was 50kg of methamphetamine in Penampang, and several suspects have been arrested and charged.

Husband and wife arrested, RM3.56 million worth of cannabis flowers seized
Police in Kudat, Sabah arrested a married couple and seized 49.9kg of cannabis and cannabis flowers worth RM3.56 million on 20 August. The male suspect was arrested at a volleyball court in Kampung Tanjong Kapor, and the female suspect nearby. They have been charged in the Kudat Magistrate's Court.
