Fashion designer acquitted of drug trafficking after three years in remand
The Shah Alam High Court has acquitted and discharged fashion designer G Chelvan of a charge of trafficking over 3kg of methamphetamine. Judicial Commissioner Norhisham Ismail ruled that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case. Chelvan had been in detention at Sungai Buloh Prison since his arrest in March 2023.

TV station deputy director jailed 6 months, fined RM20,000 for accepting RM28,000 bribes
The Shah Alam Sessions Court sentenced a local television station's deputy director to six months' jail and a RM20,000 fine after finding her guilty of two counts of accepting RM28,000 in bribes seven years ago. The court allowed a stay of execution pending her appeal to the High Court.

Appeals court cuts Puchong businessman's jail term for assaulting wife to 5 years
The High Court in Shah Alam reduced a businessman's 16-year jail sentence for assaulting his wife to five years, calling the original term 'extremely excessive'. The court also set aside the caning, ruling that the relevant penal code sections do not provide for it. The assault took place at the couple's home in Puchong four years ago.
