Penang requires Kampung Selamat pig farms to send waste to biogas plant
The Penang government has directed all pig farms at Kampung Selamat, near Tasek Gelugor, to send their sewage waste to a biogas plant in Ampang Jajar since May to curb pollution. State exco H'ng Mooi Lye said the move follows complaints from residents and MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan, with weekly monitoring by the veterinary services department finding no direct discharges so far.

Weekly monitoring by the Veterinary Services Department (JPV) found no farms discharging waste directly into drains or rivers. The state also plans to clean up sediment in the drains after clearing old waste.
