Malaysian police have detained six local men in connection with a drug smuggling case involving a Malaysian co-pilot arrested at Jakarta's airport. Four of the suspects had fled to Thailand and Vietnam before returning to Malaysia, where they were arrested. The co-pilot was caught with drugs worth an estimated RM45 million.

Mechanic injured after being shot by two men on a motorcycle
A 43-year-old mechanic was shot in the right palm by two men on a motorcycle at a car workshop on Jalan Sungai Lembu in Bukit Mertajam. He fled and later lodged a report at the Kulim police station. Police are investigating the motive.

Independent probe ordered into Teluk Bahang ferry-MV Mekar Jaya collision
An independent investigation has been ordered into the collision between the Teluk Bahang Ferry and cargo vessel MV Mekar Jaya in Penang Port waters, which injured 21 people. The ferry was heading to Sultan Abdul Halim Ferry Terminal when it collided with the cargo vessel travelling from Butterworth Deep Water Wharves to Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal.
