Chow: eight of 10 Penang2030 targets met or on track
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said eight of the 10 key Penang2030 targets have been achieved or are on track, covering welfare, housing, governance, tourism, education, agriculture and youth development. He spoke at the launch of the state government's Eight-Year Report Card in Bukit Mertajam, acknowledging the agricultural sector still lags despite 384 urban farms.

Magazine Road lane in George Town to close 21 days for LRT works
A section of Magazine Road in George Town, Penang will be partially closed for 21 days from Sept 14 to Oct 5 for road widening and utility relocation works under the Penang Mutiara Line LRT project. The leftmost lane in front of St Giles Wembley Hotel heading towards KOMTAR will be shut around the clock, while other lanes remain open.

Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah closed 322 days for Mutiara LRT works
MRT Corp announced that Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah in George Town will have a 322-day traffic diversion from Sept 12, 2026 to July 31, 2027 for piling and structural works on the Mutiara Line LRT. Jalan Magazine will also be partially closed from 10pm on Sept 14 to 5am on Oct 5 for road widening and utility relocation.

Penang: Juru-Sungai Dua highway Package 1 at 40.79% completion, on track for 2030
The Penang government says the Juru-Sungai Dua elevated highway project is on track for completion by 2030. Package 1, covering the route between the Juru and Sungai Dua toll plazas, is 40.79% complete and expected to finish by October next year. The RM3 billion project aims to ease congestion for about 200,000 daily users of the North-South Expressway corridor.

Penang to auction Tanjung Pinang land to fund Ayer Itam bypass project
The Penang government will auction a 2.42-hectare freehold plot in Tanjung Pinang on October 7 to help contractor Consortium Zenith Construction secure cash flow for the Ayer Itam-Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway bypass. The project is 92.46% complete and targeted for completion by April 2027.

SkyGate NHJ opens 36,000 sq ft precision engineering plant in Perai
SkyGate NHJ Technology Sdn Bhd has opened a new precision engineering facility in the Perai Free Industrial Zone, Penang. The 36,000 sq ft plant will support industries including semiconductors, electronics, and aerospace. The joint venture between a SkyGate Solutions subsidiary and Singapore's New Jin Hai Pte Ltd aims to boost local capabilities and create high-skilled jobs.

SkyGate NHJ to invest US$30m in two-phase Penang smart manufacturing facility
SkyGate NHJ Technology announced a US$30 million investment to develop a smart manufacturing facility in Penang, with the first phase focused on automated production lines. The opening ceremony at the Perai Free Industrial Zone was officiated by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow. The investment is expected to create over 100 technical jobs and generate annual sales of up to US$25 million.
