A 37-year-old woman was fined RM1,500 by the Sibu Magistrates' Court after pleading guilty to assaulting her cousin. The assault happened on Aug 27 at a residence in Kampung Bahagia Jaya, Teku, following a dispute over an unpaid debt.

Sibu man remanded six more days over nephew's slashing death
A 49-year-old man in Sibu has been remanded for another six days over the death of his five-year-old nephew, who was allegedly slashed on the neck on Aug 28. The boy died at Sibu Hospital. The suspect is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Man nabbed after punching sister, threatening to kill her
A 42-year-old man in Kampung Nyabor, Saratok was arrested for allegedly punching his sister and threatening to kill her after she scolded him. He also damaged her car windscreen. The suspect tested positive for drugs and has prior criminal records.
