SUPP Youth: One-third of parliamentary seats needed to protect Sarawak's MA63 rights
SUPP Youth chief Kevin Lau Kor Jie said Sabah and Sarawak need one-third of parliamentary seats to safeguard their constitutional rights under MA63, since constitutional amendments require a two-thirds majority. He spoke at a Mooncake Festival celebration in Sibu, where he also urged Sarawakians to stay united in defending the state's rights.

Sibu Municipal Council jumps 29 places to sixth nationally in 2026 rating
Sibu Municipal Council (MPS) climbed 29 places to rank sixth out of 42 municipal councils nationwide in the 2026 Local Authority Star Rating, retaining a five-star rating with a score of 91.95 per cent. Its chairman Clarence Ting said the achievement was a collective effort and MPS is the highest-ranked municipal council in Sarawak. The results were announced by KPKT in Penang.

PBB must engage young voters who moved away, says Dr Annuar
PBB vice-president Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee said the party must strengthen cooperation beyond conventions and election campaigns to keep young voters who have moved away from their constituencies engaged. Speaking at a dinner gathering in Sibu hosting PBB members from Samariang and Sibu, he noted many young people from Sibu now live in Kuching. The Samariang delegation stopped in Sibu before heading to Miri for the PBB Northern Zone Special Convention.

PBB must draw up programmes to reach 18-20 year old voters before Sarawak polls, says Annuar Rapaee
PBB vice-president Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee said the party needs to design programmes aimed at youths aged 18 to 20 before the coming Sarawak state election. He said many young voters may still be confused because they will be voting for the first time, and this group could decide the outcome. He spoke at a dinner with PBB Samariang at Dewan Lakis in Sibu.

Aaron: Unity needs understanding, not just tolerance
National Unity Minister Aaron Ago Dagang said unity in a plural society cannot rely on tolerance alone, but must be built through understanding, respect and cooperation. He said this while officiating the Malaysia Pastoral Convention 2026 at a hotel in Sibu today. The convention runs from 9 to 13 September and brings together about 850 Catholics from nine dioceses.

National Unity Minister Datuk Seri Aaron Ago Dagang opened the first Malaysia Pastoral Convention 2026 at Kingwood Hotel in Sibu today, telling about 850 Catholic delegates from nine dioceses that religious communities must help build national unity. He said government policy alone cannot achieve unity and urged faith groups to move from tolerance to understanding, respect, trust and cooperation.

Sibu roads to close for 3,000-strong Catholic procession on Sept 9
About 3,000 people are expected to join the Malaysia Pastoral Convention 2026 procession in Sibu on Wednesday night. The walk will start at Sibu Gateway and proceed to Kingwood Hotel, with motorists advised to avoid the route from 9pm to 9.45pm.
