Four Chinese nationals to face charges in Alor Setar over Kedah kidnapping
Four Chinese citizens, aged 24 to 46, will be charged at the Alor Setar court tomorrow over the kidnapping of a woman at a house in Taman Amira, Jalan Langgar, last month. The case follows an Aug 8 shootout in which two foreign suspects were killed during a police rescue raid. Six people were arrested in raids across Kedah, Penang and Kuala Lumpur, and one suspect was charged on Sept 10.

Nafuzi denies criticising MFL schedule, cites TFC player fatigue

Nestle Malaysia invests over RM6 million in paddy club since 2012
Nestle Malaysia has put more than RM6 million into its Nestle Paddy Club since 2012, supporting about 200 farmers across over 600 hectares in Kedah and Perlis. The programme supplies locally grown rice for Cerelac infant cereals, with participating farmers recording yields above the national average.

1821 cannonballs handed to Kota Kuala Kedah Museum
Several iron cannonballs believed to be relics of the 1821 Kedah-Siam war are now part of the Kota Kuala Kedah Museum collection. The artefacts, found about 20 years ago, were handed over by Yayasan Tunku Kassim at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj 2026 carnival held at the museum.

Raja Muda of Perlis opens MIDF CSR study room at MADI
The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, opened a study room donated through a CSR initiative worth RM98,125 at Al-Madrasah Ad-Diniah Al-Islamiyah (MADI) in Kangar. Fertiliser supplier's managing director remanded over delayed Baja 3 distribution in Kedah
A managing director of a fertiliser supply company has been remanded until 16 September after MACC detained him over delays in distributing Baja 3 to padi farmers in Kedah. The investigation under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 involves a shortfall of 282,360 bags from the 616,015 bags due to about 60,000 farmers in the MADA area.

Body of missing fisherman found 400 metres from Pulau Batu Layang
A fisherman feared drowned since yesterday was found dead about 400 metres from Pulau Batu Layang, Kangar, this morning. His body was discovered by his own brother-in-law after search and rescue operations were reactivated. The victim leaves behind a wife and three children.

Degree students received RM300, diploma students RM200 and certificate students RM100, with extra help for special cases including accidents and disasters. A 33-year-old fisherman is feared drowned after falling overboard while prawn fishing in the waters of Sungai Baru, near Batu Layang, Simpang Empat, early this morning. He was not wearing a life jacket, and a search and rescue operation is ongoing.

BERSATU Perlis chairman Izizam Ibrahim has urged party leaders and members who recently quit to relinquish all political appointed positions under the state government. Eight vehicles destroyed in fire at Kuala Kedah cargo jetty
Eight vehicles on a barge at the Kuala Kedah Cargo Jetty caught fire last night. The fire is believed to have started from a lorry carrying medicine before spreading to seven other vehicles, and was brought under control at 9.32pm. The cause and losses are still under investigation.

Alor Setar High Court rejects GISBH challenge against Kedah fatwa
The Alor Setar High Court dismissed an application by GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd and its CEO Nasiruddin Ali to challenge a Kedah fatwa declaring GISBH a deviant teachings organisation. Judge Evawani Farisyta Mohammad ruled the civil court has no jurisdiction as the fatwa involves the Sultan's prerogative. GISBH and Nasiruddin will appeal, after similar challenges in Shah Alam and Kangar were also rejected.

A single mother in Alor Setar, Kedah, says she could not buy a birthday cake for her youngest child because money is short after her husband died five years ago. Nor Aza Hamzah, 44, supports four children by gutting catfish, collecting boxes and selling used cooking oil, and an appeal for donations has been made through her phone number.
