Malaysia restarts IAEA nuclear assessment, first plant possibly by 2040s
New Straits Times
Malaysia has restarted its Phase 1 early-stage assessment under the IAEA framework, with MyPOWER coordinating feasibility studies and a national position before any commitment to nuclear power. An analyst says that even if the government decides to proceed by 2030 or 2031, the first plant may only operate between 2040 and 2046. The renewed interest is driven by rising electricity demand from data centres and volatile fossil fuel prices.
