Tiafoe falls to Shelton in US Open semi-final, set for career-high No 8
Frances Tiafoe lost to fellow American Ben Shelton in the US Open semi-finals at Flushing Meadows, New York, going down 4-6 6-3 6-3 7-5. Despite the defeat, Tiafoe will rise to a career-high world number eight and return to the top 10 for the first time since 2023. He said closing out matches will be his next challenge as he targets a first Grand Slam title and a place at the ATP Finals in Turin.
